Elizabeth Taylor had amassed $600 million fortune in properties, jewels and stocks

From the NY Post:

Screen queen Elizabeth Taylor has left behind a fortune worth at least $600 million, much of which is expected to go to the AIDS charities she championed for decades.

Her famous jewelry collection, valued at an eye-popping $150 million in 2002, is likely to be auctioned off with the bulk of the proceeds going to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation and amfAR, the AIDS charity she helped found in 1985, according to WFLD/Fox TV Chicago.

“From what I understand, she seems to have been very wise about her investments,” said a financial planner who has worked with other Hollywood A-listers.

At the time of her 1994 divorce from her last husband, Larry Fortensky, Taylor’s net worth was estimated at $608.4 million. That figure could now be well in excess of $1 billion.

During the 1990s, Taylor reportedly earned about $2 per second, or about $63 million per year.

Her famed perfume, White Diamonds, earned more than $70 million last year, according to reports.

“Ragtime” On Broadway

Every time I read about the “Spiderman” fiasco, I think of another show I saw at the same theatre on Broadway.  It was the antithesis of “Spiderman”.

It was “Ragtime”.

It was a big show with a lot of heart and a lot of talent-both on and off stage.

The opening number was one of the best I’ve ever seen in any show…

The cast was amazing:  Brian Stokes Mitchell, Marin Mazzie, Audra McDonald and very young, pre-Glee Lea Michelle playing the little emigrant girl.  And many more Broadway names…

It was truly a big show and it filled that huge theatre…

And it was damn good.  If the company producing it, Livenet, had not gone bankrupt for totally unrelated reasons, I think it could have run for years…

Here is the opening number:

And Brian Stokes Mitchell and Audra McDonald’s big number:

And here is a compilation of clips from the PBS Special.  I wish there was a full clip of Marin Mazzie singing “Back to Before.”  She was riveting….

Zsa Zsa Gabor Says ‘I’m Next’

Poor Zsa, Zsa….

It’s all about her….

Upon learning that her dear friend Elizabeth Taylor has passed away on Wednesday morning, Zsa Zsa Gabor became so upset that she was rushed back to the hospital in Los Angeles, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

Zsa Zsa’s husband Frederic Prinz von Anhalt told RadarOnline.com that his wife was watching television when the story broke of Taylor’s death.

Taylor and Gabor, 94, had been friends for decades and she “went hysterical” after she was told of her passing.

“Zsa Zsa said celebrities go in threes and I’m next,” her husband said she exclaimed.

Screen legend Elizabeth Taylor passed away after spending six weeks in the hospital for congestive heart failure. She was 79. Hollywood icon Jane Russell died in February, she was 89.

Frederic said Zsa Zsa’s blood pressure “went through the roof,” so he called an ambulance and she was rushed back to the UCLA Medical Center.

Carol Channing’s 90th Birthday Bash

Happy Birthday to Carol Channing as she continues to celebrate her 90th Birthday.

She’s an American Original and there will never be another one like her…

Here’s a little press coverage and a couple of videos of the old girl in her signature roles:

Carol Channing celebrated her birthday on Monday night with a big party that helped the arts. The 90-year-old actress was in full attendance. Walking the red carpet, talking to reporters and sharing a moment with family and friends who came to celebrate with her, you would have thought the classy Hollywood legend wasn’t a day over 29.

Anne Jeffreys, Bruce Vilanche, Carole Cook, Jo Anne Worley and others took time to come to the Pantages to share the best of the Channing moment. Watching the actress come out of the back with the original dress of the 1969 performance of ‘Hello Dolly’ even the celebrities were star struck with Carol Channing.

“All the artists do is recreated what is already created,” says Channing pointing up to the sky when asked the secret to her success.

The evening events ended out on Hollywood Bouldevard with Carol Channing and all her friends posing with her star on the Walk of Stars. The famed performer definitely has lived a productive life, and is still kicking, as she so actively proved on Monday night.
