The Republican Jobs Plan: Florida Lawmaker Wants State to Reinstate Dwarf Tossing

You just can’t make this stuff up….

The GOP has no-zero- interest in job creation or income equality.

But they have plenty of time and interest in frivolous lawmaking, laws to favor their campaign contributors, trying to legislate morality, trying to oppress women, gays and immigrants and trying to extend employment opportunities for Dwarfs….

This is so frigging ridiculous, I just can’t say any more about it….

Talk amongst yourselves….

From Frank Cerabino in the Palm Beach Press:

Some news on the job-creation front in Florida.

A state legislator has found yet another example of government regulation getting in the way of job creation.

So Rep. Ritch Workman, R-Melbourne, filed a bill this week to bring back “dwarf tossing,” the barbaric and dangerous barroom spectacle that was imported from Australia and thrived briefly in Florida before it was outlawed in 1989.

“I’m on a quest to seek and destroy unnecessary burdens on the freedom and liberties of people,” Workman said. “This is an example of Big Brother government.

“All that it does is prevent some dwarfs from getting jobs they would be happy to get,” Workman said. “In this economy, or any economy, why would we want to prevent people from getting gainful employment?”

Marco Rubio: Medicare, Social Security ‘Weakened Us As People,’ Made Us Lazy

People really need to start paying attention to what these Republicans are saying- and the Democrats need to do a better job of publicizing it and calling them out in public.

This Tea Bagger Senator is on every GOP Presidential Candidates short list for Vice President.  Because he’s from the key swing state of Florida.  Well, his value may have just gone down.  This type of talk is not going to go over well in retiree-land….

Oh, one other thing….He seems to think families and communities should look out for their own.  Well, it’s not 1950 and families and communities are not necessarily there for people who have had to move around all their lives for jobs and to satisfy the Corporations they work(ed) for….These guys need to wake up.

From ThinkProgress.org.  Click the link to go to their site if you want to  see the video.  If not, hopefully, you will see it in an attack ad from the DNC soon.

Potential vice president running mate Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) dismissed the importance of programs like Medicare and Social Security during a speech at the Reagan Presidential Library this afternoon, arguing that the initiatives “weakened us as people”:

These programs actually weakened us as a people. You see, almost forever, it was institutions in society that assumed the role of taking care of one another. If someone was sick in your family, you took care of them. If a neighbor met misfortune, you took care of them. You saved for your retirement and your future because you had to. We took these things upon ourselves in our communities, our families, and our homes, and our churches and our synagogues. But all that changed when the government began to assume those responsibilities. All of a sudden, for an increasing number of people in our nation, it was no longer necessary to worry about saving for security because that was the government’s job.

Florida Republicans upset Democrat said ‘uterus’ on state House floor | The Raw Story

I’ll let this speak for itself…

For some Republican lawmakers in Florida, uterus is a dirty word.

During a debate over a bill that would prohibit governments from deducting union dues out of a worker’s paycheck last week, Florida state Rep. state Rep. Scott Randolph (D) argued that Republicans seem to only be against regulations when it comes to big business.

In his speech on the state House floor, Randolph even suggested that his wife could “incorporate her uterus” if it would stop the GOP from passing more restrictive abortion laws.

Republican leadership scolded the Democratic congressman, telling him that talk about body parts was unwelcome.

“The point was that Republicans are always talking about deregulation and big government,” Randolph told The St. Petersburg Times Thursday. “And I always say their philosophy is small government for the big guy and big government for the little guy. And so, if my wife’s uterus was incorporated or my friend’s bedroom was incorporated, maybe they (Republicans) would be talking about deregulating.”

“It’s not like I used slang,” he added.

He said Republicans told him they were concerned about young pages hearing the word.

“I think it’s a sad commentary about what we think about sex education in the state,” Randolph said.
